PRP uses your body's own growth factors to wake up follicles that have gone to sleep — it's stimulation from within, not chemicals from outside.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy involves drawing a small amount of your blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and injecting this growth factor-rich plasma directly into your scalp at the follicle level. These platelets contain powerful growth factors that signal dormant follicles in the resting (telogen) phase to shift back into active growth. Because we're using your own blood components, there's no risk of allergic reaction or hormonal disruption — it's completely natural stimulation.

At THLC, we've performed over 5,000 PRP procedures across all ethnicities with consistently strong results. What sets our approach apart is that we don't position PRP as a standalone miracle cure. Dr. Rajput's research shows that stimulation without proper nutritional building blocks produces incomplete results — like trying to build a house with great motivation but no materials. That's why we typically combine PRP with our Cyclical Vitamin Therapy protocol, ensuring your follicles have both the signal to grow and the nutrients to sustain that growth.

Most patients see initial results within 3-4 months, with optimal thickness achieved after 3-4 sessions spaced appropriately. Each session takes about an hour, and the treatment can be repeated every 6-12 months to maintain results. PRP works particularly well for diffuse thinning patterns and can be an excellent complement to hair transplant procedures, helping to strengthen existing hair while supporting transplanted grafts.

Your PRP Growth Timeline

Growth factors work gradually — here's what patients typically experience

1

Sessions 1-2

Foundation Building

Initial treatments begin stimulating dormant follicles. Most patients notice reduced shedding within the first month.

2

Sessions 3-4

Activation Phase

Growth factors accumulate in treated areas. Follicles that were in resting phase begin shifting to active growth.

3

Month 3-4

Visible Changes

New hair becomes visible on trichoscopy and photos. Existing hair appears thicker and more resistant to shedding.

4

Month 6+

Maintenance Mode

Results stabilize with ongoing improvement. Repeat treatments every 6-12 months maintain growth factor stimulation.

PRP Questions We Hear Daily

How does PRP actually work to restore hair growth?

PRP uses your own blood, which is drawn and centrifuged to extract platelet-rich plasma. This plasma is rich in growth factors that stimulate follicles in the resting (telogen) phase to shift back into the growth (anagen) phase. It's completely natural — no chemicals or hormonal disruption. We've performed 5,000+ PRP procedures and see it work on all ethnicities. However, PRP works as a stimulant, so it produces the best results when combined with nutritional support. Stimulation alone without building blocks gives incomplete results.

What should I expect during a PRP session and how long does it take?

Each PRP session takes approximately 1 hour. We draw your blood, process it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, then inject the plasma at the follicle level throughout your scalp. Since it's your own blood, it's completely safe with no risk of allergic reactions. Most patients need 3–4 sessions for best results, and the treatment can be repeated every 6–12 months for maintenance.

When will I see results from PRP and how long do they last?

You'll typically start noticing improvements within 3–4 months as follicles shift from resting to growth phase. The growth factors work by activating dormant follicles, so results build gradually as your natural hair cycle responds. Results can last 6–12 months, which is why we recommend maintenance sessions. PRP works best as part of our Multiple Therapy Approach — combining it with nutritional supplements ensures the stimulated follicles have the building blocks they need for sustained growth.

Am I a good candidate for PRP if I have significant thinning or bald spots?

PRP works best for patients who still have some remaining follicles, even if they're weak or producing thin hair. It's excellent for diffuse thinning, early-stage hair loss, and areas where you can see follicles under trichoscopic examination. For completely bald, shiny areas where follicles are gone, PRP alone won't be effective — those areas require transplant. However, PRP can strengthen the hair around bald patches and is very effective post-transplant to nurture healing and stimulate new growth.

Are there any side effects or downtime with PRP treatments?

PRP is very safe since it uses your own blood — no foreign substances or chemicals. You might experience mild tenderness at the injection sites for a day or two, similar to after any injection. There's no downtime — you can resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Some patients notice slight swelling at the injection sites, but this resolves within 24–48 hours. The most important thing is ensuring the procedure is done with proper sterile technique and medical oversight.

PRP works as a stimulant that activates resting follicles, but stimulation alone without nutritional building blocks produces incomplete results. The two therapies are complementary.
